Fertogard is an oral medication that contains 100 mg of Clomiphene Citrate and is utilized for addressing infertility in women.

Fertogard aids in restoring normal ovarian function by stimulating the maturation and proper release of eggs, a process known as ovulation. The subsequent step requires the fertilization of the egg to create a new zygote.
Additionally, this medication is effective in regulating menstrual cycles in women experiencing irregular ovulation due to the use of oral contraceptives or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
It is also prescribed at a lower dose of 25 mg to enhance sperm production in men with low sperm counts, thus addressing male infertility issues.

Fertogard functions as a selective estrogen receptor modulator, binding to estrogen receptors in the hypothalamus, which serves as the brain's control center. It counteracts the negative feedback effect of estrogen.
When estrogen levels are low, the hypothalamus generates gonadotropins that prompt the pituitary gland, the hormone regulation center in the brain, to release FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) and LH (luteinizing hormone).
These hormones are essential for ovulation as they encourage the growth and maturing of egg follicles in the ovaries. Once a follicle is fully developed, it ruptures and releases the egg, completing the ovulation process.

Typically, the most favorable outcomes are observed in women with polycystic ovary syndrome and other conditions that hinder monthly ovulation. After establishing regular ovulation, treatment involves timing sexual intercourse appropriately and starting each new cycle of Fertogard on the fifth day.

Fertogard is indicated for the treatment or prevention of the following medical conditions:
- Lactation Suppression
- Oligospermia
- Ovulation Induction

In addition to allergy-related symptoms like swelling of the lips, tongue, or face, or hives, patients may experience ovarian enlargement leading to abdominal or pelvic pain, flushing, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, blurred vision, headaches, or abnormal uterine bleeding.
